Waterfront Recreational Path
The Recreational Path is now over 90 kms long with the newest section connecting the village of Lancaster to the Ontario/Quebec border. This new section is an extension of the south service road. Another, smaller section, travels north from Second Street East along the new Nick Kaneb Drive, ending at Marleau Avenue. Although this section is not yet connected to the other sections of the path, we hope that will come in time.
The path that winds its way through Cornwall and the Seaway Valley has been described as the best part of the entire Waterfront Trail. Much of it follows the shoreline of the St. Lawrence River providing great scenery and areas to stop for picnics, rest stops and access points. There are an abundance of access points all along the path, making it easy to enjoy whether you are arriving from the east or west.
The path runs through the City of Cornwall near the downtown core, past hotels and motels, through quaint villages such as Long Sault, Ingleside, Morrisburg, Iroquois, Glen Walter, Summerstown, Lancaster and Bainsville. A section to the north runs through historic St. Andrews.
All along the path you will find services, museums, picnic areas, hiking trails, shops, historic sites, and wonderful scenery.
